Bringing Citizens Together to End Cannabis Prohibition

Cannabis prohibition has done more harm than good to our society. It has created a war against people who use drugs, people who struggle with addiction and their families.

My son was arrested for cannabis possession in 1991, which started a decade of cycling through the criminal justice system for non-violent crimes. This was a tremendous waste of human potential, an irresponsible expenditure of resources and a painful saga for our family. But this wasn’t just happening in my family, the war on drugs was devastating families and communities across all social, cultural and economic lines.

As a responsible parent, I support measures to legalize cannabis because I’m fed up with the violence and the loss of lives and liberty that prohibition has caused. I believe that we need to endorse and promote policies of harm reduction and restoration, rather than retribution.
