Bringing Citizens Together to End Cannabis Prohibition

What's so funny about legalization?

We were shocked to see how Attorney General Kamala Harris responded to a question about cannabis legalization:

That's right. She laughs.

The exchange was prompted by news that Ron Gold, who is challenging Harris for Attorney General in November, supports legalization. Huffington Post describes it this way:

In an interview with Sacramento NBC affiliate KRCA, Gold further explained his pro-marijuana position, noting the potential tax benefits for the state.

Colorado is already beginning to prove to everybody that there is a sufficient tax base," Gold said.

KRCA later asked Harris if she agrees with her opponent.

"He's entitled to his opinion," Harris said, laughing.

She doesn't even answer the question!

We hear every day that California is on its way to reform. That may be true, but when you see the top law enforcement officer in the state laugh when asked about our movement, you know we still have a long ways to go. We plan to follow this response up in the coming weeks and months.

Update: We're happy to see SF Weekly question this response at well.
